Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved the placement of two Agniveers from the first batch recruited under the Agnipath scheme in the 40th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). The two personnel are scheduled to complete their tenure in the Indian Army in November 2026.
According to the state government, the placements will be made against available vacancies, enabling the two recruits to continue serving in Uttarakhand after completing their military service.

The decision follows a communication from the central government informing the state that the first batch of Agniveers would complete its tenure in November. The Centre also requested Uttarakhand to accommodate two personnel from the state.
Dhami said military service instils discipline, dedication and a sense of responsibility among young people. He emphasised that the training and professional experience gained in the armed forces could prove valuable in security services and other areas of public administration.

The Chief Minister said the state government was committed to supporting young people and recognising the contribution of those who serve the nation.
The approval provides a post-service employment opportunity for the two Agniveers. However, their placement is subject to available vacancies and applicable requirements and does not constitute a general guarantee of employment for all personnel completing service under the Agnipath scheme.
