Bareilly: The Transport Department organized a plantation drive at the Driving Training and Testing Institute (DTTI) campus in Bareilly on the occasion of World Environment Day, combining environmental conservation with a message of road safety and public awareness.
The programme was dedicated to the memory of individuals who lost their lives in road accidents. Officials paid tribute to the victims and expressed solidarity with their families, emphasizing that road safety and environmental protection are closely linked to sustainable and responsible development.
During the event, participants highlighted the importance of creating a safer transportation system while promoting environmental conservation. Officials stressed that both road safety awareness and environmental stewardship are essential for building a secure, healthy and sustainable society.
The plantation drive was conducted jointly with members, volunteers and representatives of the Brahma Kumaris organization. Senior Brahma Kumaris representative Sister Parvati, the regional head for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, attended the programme as a special guest. Addressing the gathering, she underscored the importance of environmental protection, human values and adherence to road safety norms. She also administered a pledge to officials and employees to actively participate in tree plantation efforts and follow road safety regulations.

Several species of saplings were planted by transport department officials, including Deputy Transport Commissioner (Region) Kamal Prasad Gupta, Regional Transport Officer Pankaj Singh, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Administration) Dr. Pravesh Kumar Saroj, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Vaibhav Soti, and Motor Vehicle Inspector Haroon Saifi, along with other departmental staff members.
Representatives of the Brahma Kumaris, transport officials and volunteers jointly called for transforming tree plantation into a mass movement to ensure a cleaner, greener and safer environment for future generations.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge reaffirming commitment to road safety, environmental conservation and sustainable development.
