Record number of coaches produced by Aredica Rae Bareli

Rae Bareli: Modern Rail Coach Factory (Aredica) Rae Bareli has achieved the target given by the Railway Board by producing 1684 coaches during the financial year 2023-24.

An Authorized spokesperson said  that these 1684 coaches have different types of coaches which include eight coaches of MEMU manufactured for the first time, 240 coaches of air-conditioned 3-tier, 202 coaches of 2-tier, 271 coaches of 3-tier economic, 332 coaches of Deendayalu, parcelvan, Tejas. 58 coaches of AC, AC Chaircar, 341 coaches of Sleeper, Bharat Gaurav etc. have been manufactured, among the coaches manufactured, there are 953 AC coaches and 731 non-AC coaches. Of the total coaches produced, 57 percent are air-conditioned coaches, which shows the efficiency and quality of manufacturing work.

He informed that during the financial year 2023-24, Aredica has manufactured 332 coaches of Deendayalu which is almost six times more than 46 coaches manufactured in the previous year 2022-23, 341 coaches of sleeper which is more than 341 coaches manufactured in the previous year. This is more than 1.5 times the 190 coaches manufactured and 58 Tejas coaches have been manufactured which is 2 times the 30 coaches manufactured in the previous year.

For the first time, Aredica entered a new phase this year by increasing its production unprecedentedly. In which a 3-phase Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) was manufactured and sent to North Eastern Railway. It has a total of 8 coaches including 6 TC and 2 DMC coaches with GPS and energy efficient LEDs. Equipped with state-of-the-art Multifunction Vehicle Bus (MVB) based Train Control Management System (TCMS) providing advanced control features, the 3-Phase MEMU train is designed for a maximum speed of 110 kmph. Arrangements have been made for 84 passengers to sit and 241 passengers to stand in TC coaches and 55 passengers to sit and 171 passengers to stand in DMC coaches.

The spokesperson said that during the financial year 2023-24, Aredica has stepped forward in the international market by producing 11 coaches for Indian Railways as well as Mozambique Railways. Due to these construction works, Aredica’s fame has been established on the world stage.

General Manager of Aredica, Prashant Kumar Mishra said that this target of production has been possible due to the leadership of all the main department heads of Aredica and the spirit of dedication towards the coach production of Team MCF. This year’s production is about 15 percent more than the production of last financial year 1461.
