Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth Marks International Day of Yoga 2026 with Focus on Healthy Ageing and Holistic Wellness

New Delhi: Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), New Delhi, observed the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with a special yoga session centred on this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The programme highlighted the growing relevance of Yoga and Ayurveda in promoting preventive healthcare, balanced living, and overall holistic wellness. It also emphasised how traditional knowledge systems can contribute to healthier lifestyles in modern times.

The event was attended by senior officials including Dr. Vandana Siroha, Director of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, along with Vaidyas Tara Chand Sharma and Namadhar Sharma, CRAV Gurus, as well as other staff members of the institution.

The celebration began with a guided yoga session at the Vidyapeeth campus, where participants practiced a range of asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques. The session focused on improving physical strength, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

Speakers at the event underlined the complementary role of Yoga and Ayurveda in supporting preventive healthcare and promoting healthy ageing. They noted that both systems together encourage harmony between body, mind, and spirit, helping individuals adopt more mindful and sustainable lifestyles.

Participants also took a collective pledge to integrate Yoga into daily life and to encourage its practice within families, workplaces, and communities.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to spreading awareness about Yoga as a simple, accessible, and effective tool for long-term well-being, reinforcing its importance in addressing contemporary health challenges.
