New Delhi: Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid has praised the Canadian team after India’s last T20 World Cup league match in Florida was called off due to a wet outfield. The Indian players are set to face Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match in Barbados on June 20.

The BCCI  shared a video of Dravid’s special interaction with the Canadian players and staff members in the dressing room. On Saturday, Dravid received a signed jersey from Canadian coach Pubudu Dassanayake. The Indian head coach praised the Canadian team for their efforts in the tournament and emerging as an inspiration for the young players.

“Guys, thank you very much. Personally, I would like to acknowledge and appreciate the tremendous contribution you have made to this tournament. You guys are honestly a huge inspiration to all of us, showing us that we really love this game. Congratulations for the sacrifices you guys are willing to make to play this tournament, qualify, come here and make this tournament a success. You all did a great job,” Dravid said in a video posted by the BCCI on Twitter.

Hardik Pandya looked excited

He said, “All I would say is keep it up. You guys are inspirational. I am sure you are inspiring young boys and girls of your country to play sports. So, honestly, the results do not matter. I think it is a big thing for the world that you guys are an inspiration.” The Indian team reached Barbados ahead of the Super 8 match against Afghanistan on Thursday. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was very excited after reaching Barbados and expressed his desire to enjoy the cuisine there. Hardik said, “We are in Barbados and are looking forward to going to the beach, enjoying the good sunshine and beautiful clear blue water. There could be no better place to play such a great tournament with such great people at the same time.”
