On Ambedkar Jayanti, Akhilesh Yadav Pays Tribute, Calls for Strengthening PDA Movement

Lucknow: On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav paid heartfelt tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution and urged citizens to unite under the ‘PDA’ movement to safeguard constitutional values. Taking to social media platform X, Yadav extended greetings to the nation on this important day, honoring Ambedkar’s legacy.

“Heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone on the pious occasion of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti,” Yadav wrote in a detailed post. He emphasized that the path shown by Ambedkar remains the foundation of social justice, democracy, and equality in the country.

Reiterating his party’s ideological stand, Yadav called for renewed strength to the PDA (an acronym for Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak, i.e., Backward Classes, Dalits, and Minorities) movement. “Let us come together to strengthen our sense of pride and dignity, and collectively empower the PDA movement to protect the Constitution and the reservation system, which are the gifts and legacies of Babasaheb,” he stated.

Yadav stressed the importance of constitutional values in ensuring the rights and dignity of marginalized communities. “The Constitution is our lifeline and shield. As long as it is safe, our respect, dignity, pride, and rights will also remain protected,” he added.

Urging people to reflect on the unifying and transformative power of the PDA coalition, the SP leader said, “Let us understand the value of our own unity under the spirit of ‘Swamaan’ (self-respect), and recognize the strength of this alliance rooted in harmony, secularism, and democratic values.”

He added that it is only through collective self-respect and self-awareness that the PDA communities can attain decisive political power, liberate themselves from oppression and injustice, and respond constitutionally to forces of domination, exploitation, and suppression.

“The unity of PDA will safeguard the Constitution and the reservation system. It will build a brighter, equitable future. Let us turn our struggle for dignity and self-respect into a grand celebration,” Yadav concluded.

Akhilesh Yadav’s message comes at a time when debates around social justice and constitutional rights are regaining momentum across the political landscape, with the PDA narrative forming a key pillar in his party’s outreach strategy ahead of upcoming elections.
