Lucknow: November 2024 has been recorded as the hottest November in Uttar Pradesh in 124 years, according to the Meteorological Department. The department predicts that the temperatures in December and January will remain higher than normal, with little chance of rain in December. Atul Kumar Singh, a scientist at the Regional Meteorological Center Lucknow, explained that the lack of rainfall and the influence of western disturbances will lead to above-average day and night temperatures. This November saw the highest average minimum and maximum temperatures since records began in 1901.
Additionally, the cold in December is expected to be milder than usual, with an average number of cold wave days. Sunshine is predicted for most parts of the state, potentially raising daytime temperatures. Meanwhile, air quality in Lucknow deteriorated recently, with two stations, Aliganj and Lalbagh, registering “very bad” air quality, posing health risks to vulnerable groups.
