Prayagraj: The Mahakumbh 2025 is witnessing an unprecedented gathering of devotees, making it the largest religious congregation in history. So far, over 40 crore pilgrims have taken a holy dip at the Sangam, and millions continue to arrive daily in Prayagraj. Addressing concerns over traffic management, DGP Uttar Pradesh, Shri Prashant Kumar, emphasized the magnitude of the challenge and the relentless efforts of the police force to maintain order.
“Managing such an extraordinary human and vehicular influx is an unparalleled challenge for any administration or police force. The infrastructure of Prayagraj is operating beyond its maximum capacity, and traffic delays are inevitable. However, this is not an administrative failure but a reflection of the sheer scale of this sacred event,” the DGP stated.
Despite these challenges, UP Police personnel—from constables to senior officers—are working tirelessly to guide devotees, ensure security, and keep the city functional. The DGP praised their dedication, patience, and discipline, calling it a historic feat in crowd management.
‘A Global Benchmark in Event Management’
Shri Prashant Kumar asserted that no other police force in the world has handled such massive human and vehicular movement with such efficiency. Under the strategic planning and vigilant supervision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UP Police has set global standards in event security and management.
“This is not just about managing an event; it is about creating history. Future generations will remember Mahakumbh 2025 as a symbol of discipline, dedication, and duty,” he remarked.

Acknowledging criticism on social media and news platforms, the DGP urged people to recognize the extraordinary commitment of the police force. He highlighted how many pilgrims—including common citizens and prominent figures—have expressed gratitude towards the police through videos and messages.
Recent footage from Prayagraj and inter-district borders indicates that traffic flow has significantly improved, reflecting the relentless efforts of the police. Instead of focusing solely on criticism, he encouraged people to appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of the police force in ensuring the success of this historic gathering.
“I salute every police officer and personnel—these unsung heroes are making the impossible possible every single day,” DGP Kumar concluded.
