Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given the green light for the early completion of the ‘Naval Shaurya Museum’, a landmark project proposed in Lucknow that will stand as a tribute to the valour, heritage, and maritime strength of the Indian Navy. Chairing a review meeting on Thursday, the Chief Minister described the upcoming museum as an “experiential centre” where visitors will be able to relive the Navy’s missions, technological prowess, and acts of courage through interactive and immersive exhibits.
The museum will feature remarkable attractions including INS Gomti, TU-142 aircraft, Sea King helicopter, 7D theatre, and warship simulators, symbolising India’s naval evolution and indomitable spirit.
Designed in the abstract form of a ship, the complex will include an interpretation centre, open-air memorial, exhibition galleries, thematic walkways, fountains, and a light-and-sound arena, with energy-efficient and eco-friendly architecture.
The project comprises two major sections — the INS Gomti Shaurya Memorial and the Naval Shaurya Vatika. The INS Gomti (F-21), a Godavari-class indigenous missile frigate that served the Navy for 34 years, will be preserved for public viewing. The Vatika will showcase the TU-142 maritime patrol aircraft and the Sea King helicopter, offering visitors an authentic experience of naval operations.

The museum will also house a 7D theatre, aircraft carrier landing simulator, submerged Dwarka model, digital water-screen shows, marine life aquarium, and interactive zones like “Dress Like Your Heroes.” It will highlight India’s naval missions, gallantry awards, and indigenous defence innovations.
Calling the museum a “living monument of India’s maritime soul,” CM Yogi said it would rekindle the spirit of India’s ancient sea heritage and give Uttar Pradesh a proud new identity on the national tourism map.
