Lucknow Gets Two New Flyovers, Inauguration Tomorrow

Lucknow: The city of Lucknow is set to witness the inauguration of two newly constructed flyovers at the bustling intersections of Munshi Pulia and Khurram Nagar tomorrow. The event will be graced by Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The construction of these two flyovers, costing approximately ₹370 crore, is expected to provide relief to around 1.5 million commuters who struggle with daily traffic congestion. Munshi Pulia and Khurram Nagar are among the busiest traffic zones in the city, and the new flyovers will significantly ease movement for residents of Indira Nagar, Madiyanv, Vikas Nagar, Jankipuram, and Aliganj.

Traffic Relief for 1.5 Million People

Ahead of the grand event, Metropolitan President Anand Dwivedi held a review meeting at Halwasiya Court in Hazratganj to oversee the preparations. He assigned responsibilities to BJP officials and vowed to make the event a grand success. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is also expected to inspect the Lucknow Outer Ring Road, a crucial infrastructure project aimed at diverting outer-city traffic and reducing congestion on major city roads.

The Munshi Pulia intersection, one of Lucknow’s busiest, sees a heavy inflow of commuters traveling to Polytechnic, Khurram Nagar, Indira Nagar, Tedhi Pulia, Kursi Road, and Vikas Nagar. More than 50,000 vehicles pass through this intersection daily, often leading to severe traffic jams. Thanks to Singh’s initiative, the Public Works Department (PWD) (NH) sanctioned the construction of a four-lane, 1,800-meter-long flyover from Polytechnic intersection to Indira Nagar Sector-16 police outpost at a cost of ₹170 crore.

Similarly, the ₹200 crore Khurram Nagar flyover, spanning 2.7 kilometers from Indira Nagar Sector-19 intersection to Jagrani Hospital, will benefit nearly 100,000 residents. Commuters traveling from Gomti Nagar to the Engineering intersection previously had to navigate the congested Khurram Nagar junction, often facing delays of up to 30 minutes. The new flyovers will drastically cut travel time and enhance traffic flow, offering much-needed relief to the city’s motorists.

With these developments, Lucknow’s transport infrastructure takes a significant leap forward, promising smoother and faster travel for its residents.
