New Delhi: Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming believes that the West Indies pitches are likely to get turn in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup and in such a situation, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav can prove to be important for India due to his wicket-taking ability. India has so far entered the tournament with three fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh and two spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.
Fleming told ESPNcricinfo, if the wickets get turn as is expected as the tournament progresses, then Kuldeep can add additional wicket-taking ability to it. He said, he still has a chance to try both types of combinations, which is good but in the game you cannot be a follower of the line so that you miss out on taking advantage of the circumstances.
India has so far fielded two left-arm spinners. Among them, Axar got success but Jadeja could bowl only three overs in three matches. Fleming, who has been the long-time coach of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, has no objection to keeping two players of the same skill in the team.
