Jaipur | In a swift breakthrough, police in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district have arrested a man within 24 hours for allegedly murdering his wife with an axe in a shocking incident reported from Kotdi village under the Pirawa police station limits.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Govind Bairagi (27), allegedly committed the crime following prolonged marital discord. The victim, Kavita Bai, had been living at her parental home for the past few months due to ongoing disputes with her husband.
Incident and Police Response
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar said the police received information on May 1 about a woman being attacked with a sharp weapon. Station House Officer Rampal Yadav and his team rushed to the spot, where they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple severe injuries.

Crime Triggered by Marital Dispute
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Premchand Bairagi, a resident of Kanwadi village under Sunel police station, the couple had been married for 4–5 years and had a five-year-old son. Frequent disputes had led to the victim staying away from her matrimonial home.
Police said the accused had called his wife back to Kotdi. When she arrived with their child, he allegedly attacked her with an axe, resulting in her death.

Investigation and Arrest
Considering the gravity of the case, a special team was formed under the supervision of Additional SP Bhagchand Meena and Circle Officer Pooja Nagar. The team collected forensic evidence, activated informant networks, and conducted technical analysis to trace the accused.
After the crime, the accused had fled the scene but was later apprehended from the Panchawa Mata Road area. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder.
