Chennai: The opening match of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League is being played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chepauk Stadium. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and decided to bat. Ruturaj Gaikwad is captaining in his first match in this league. A day earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had handed over the command of the team to him.

The performance of Bollywood stars and singers was seen on Friday in the opening ceremony of season-17 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Singers like AR Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan and Neeti Mohan lit up the occasion with their hit songs in the ceremony which lasted for about 40 minutes at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The ceremony started with Akshay Kumar performing. After that, Tiger Shroff danced on the song Jai Jai Shiv Shankar. After Sonu, AR Rahman sang Maa Tujhe Salaam and Neeti Mohan sang Barso Re Megha. Finally AR Rahman concluded the ceremony with the song ‘Jai Ho’.
At the end of the ceremony, AR Rahman concluded the ceremony by singing the Oscar Award winning song ‘Jai Ho’.
During the ceremony, the landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the South Pole of the Moon was also shown.
After the explosive dance of Akshay-Tiger, Sonu Nigam started his performance with Vande Mataram.
