AI Integration in Kumbh Preparations for Cleanliness and Efficient Services

Prayagraj: In a significant step toward ensuring smooth and efficient arrangements for the upcoming Mahakumbh, Director of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM),  Binay Kumar Jha, visited Prayagraj. His visit was aimed at reviewing the city’s preparations, particularly the cleanliness and other innovative measures being implemented to ensure the comfort and safety of the millions of devotees expected at the Mahakumbh in 2025.

Jha began his inspection at the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) office, where he took a close look at the newly established Solid Waste Management Control Room in the Smart City Building. He was briefed on the functioning of the control room and the AI-powered systems that are being utilized for monitoring the city’s cleanliness. The director expressed his satisfaction at how AI is being used to monitor road conditions, streetlights, stray animals, and waste disposal, noting that the city’s AI-driven monitoring is ensuring that issues are quickly addressed. “The use of artificial intelligence to monitor encroachments, street waste, and other urban challenges is commendable,” he said, praising the municipal team for their efforts.

Noting the impressive daily coverage of up to 70 kilometers of main roads,  Jha acknowledged the innovative approach to city cleanliness and praised the PMC for its efforts in tackling these issues using cutting-edge technology. He highlighted that AI is playing a pivotal role in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring swift action to resolve any problems. The Director also appreciated the integrated monitoring system that tracks various urban challenges, contributing to the smooth functioning of the city.

As part of his visit,  Jha toured the first Construction and Demolition (C&D) Plant in Uttar Pradesh, established under the Smart City Project. He also visited the Legacy Site in Baswara, where he took note of the waste management procedures being followed. During his inspection,  Jha appreciated the measures taken by the municipal corporation and emphasized that such innovations would play a vital role in managing the large crowds expected for Mahakumbh 2025.

He specifically praised the sanitation measures being implemented in preparation for the grand religious event. “The attention being paid to sanitation and cleanliness is extraordinary. The municipal corporation’s efforts to ensure the comfort and cleanliness for devotees are praiseworthy,” said Mr. Jha. He expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in ensuring that Kumbh 2025 will not only be a spiritual event but also an example of effective urban management.

In a gesture of appreciation, Prayagraj Municipal Commissioner, Chandra Mohan Garg, presented  Jha with a memento commemorating Mahakumbh 2025, symbolizing the city’s ongoing preparations for the mega event.

Jha’s visit underlined the significant strides being made in Prayagraj’s preparedness for the Mahakumbh 2025, focusing on cleanliness, AI-based monitoring systems, and enhanced waste management efforts. The city’s preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 are being hailed as an excellent example of innovative urban management, combining technology with tradition to ensure a smooth, clean, and efficient experience for millions of devotees.
