Bareilly: Around 120 participants took a pledge to stay away from drugs and promote a substance-free lifestyle during a programme organised under the Fit India Movement at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre in Bareilly on Friday.
The event, titled Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat, was organised with the support of MY Bharat volunteers to raise awareness among young people about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyles through sports and physical activities.

Pushpa Pandey, member of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women, attended the programme as the chief guest. Pushpa Singh, Deputy Director of MY Bharat, Bareilly, and Sandeep Mohan Chaudhary, in-charge of the SAI Training Centre, were present as guests of honour.
Activities included the Fit India Fitness Challenge, a tug-of-war competition promoting a drug-free lifestyle, yoga and cycling. The activities encouraged participants to remain physically active, maintain their mental well-being and incorporate sports into their daily routines.
All 120 participants pledged to remain drug-free and spread awareness among their families, friends and communities about the importance of avoiding substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Pushpa Pandey said young people were among the country’s greatest strengths and that channeling their energy towards positive activities could bring meaningful social change. She observed that substance abuse affected not only an individual’s health but also their family and social life. She urged young people to focus on education, sports, creative pursuits and nation-building.

MY Bharat Deputy Director Pushpa Singh said the goal of a drug-free India could be achieved when young people not only avoided substance abuse themselves but also encouraged others to understand its harmful consequences. She highlighted MY Bharat’s efforts to engage youth in social initiatives and develop leadership qualities among them.
Singh also emphasised that sports, yoga and regular exercise could help young people adopt healthier lifestyles.
MY Bharat volunteers Aditya Bhardwaj, Sangeeta, Jaswant, Amit, Alok, Gajendra and Aarti assisted in organising the programme. B.A. Sharma, Meena Kumari, Shubham Chaurasia, Saurabh, Updesh and other prominent attendees were also present.
The programme highlighted the importance of combining drug-awareness initiatives with sports and fitness activities to encourage healthier choices among young people and support the vision of a developed India.
