Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is stepping up efforts to position itself as a leading destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scheduled to inaugurate the UP GCC Innovation Summit 2026 at Centrum Hotel in Lucknow on October 26.
The summit is expected to bring together more than 100 senior industry executives, policymakers, investors, academic institutions and infrastructure stakeholders to explore investment opportunities, artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, innovation, talent development and global business expansion. The event is expected to witness the signing of 15 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and the issuance of five Letters of Comfort (LoCs) to prospective investors.

Organised by the IIT Kanpur Alumni Association in collaboration with Invest UP and HCLTech, the summit aims to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a preferred destination for multinational companies seeking to establish or expand their operations in India.
Target of 500 GCCs by 2031
Uttar Pradesh has set a target of establishing more than 500 GCCs by 2031. According to the information provided by the state, more than 200 centres are already operating across sectors such as banking and financial services, semiconductors, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, technology and digital services.
The state government aims to attract fresh investments while encouraging existing centres to expand their operations. Under the Uttar Pradesh GCC Policy 2024, eligible investors may receive capital subsidies of up to 25 per cent and land subsidies of up to 50 per cent, subject to prescribed conditions and eligibility criteria.
The summit will examine emerging GCC business models, AI-driven transformation, advanced technologies and the growing demand for specialised skills. Discussions will also focus on improving the state’s competitiveness in attracting high-value business services and technology-led investments.

Talent Development and Industry-Academia Collaboration
Noida and Greater Noida have emerged as key GCC destinations, supported by their proximity to the National Capital Region, connectivity and commercial infrastructure. Lucknow, meanwhile, is strengthening its profile as an emerging hub for technology, engineering, innovation and global business services.
Institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIT (BHU) Varanasi and IIIT Lucknow are expected to play an important role in developing skilled talent, strengthening industry-academia partnerships and supporting AI-driven industries.
MoUs are expected to be signed with around 13 academic institutions during the summit to promote collaboration between industry and educational institutions.
The event is expected to provide fresh momentum to investment promotion, high-value job creation and Uttar Pradesh’s integration into global business networks. It also aligns with the state’s broader ambition of building a knowledge-driven economy and achieving its long-term goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
