Mumbai: Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer continues to take viewers deeper into the world of the Mahabharata, exploring the power struggles, alliances and ambitions that shaped the kingdom of Hastinapur long before the great war. The show is now set to introduce another formidable force with actor Abhaas Mehta stepping into the role of Jarasandha, the powerful king of Magadha.
Driven by an ambition to expand his influence across Aryavarta, Jarasandha brings a new layer of political intrigue and danger to the storyline. Aware that Bhishma Pitamah, played by Manish Wadhwa, stands as a formidable obstacle to any direct assault on Hastinapur, Jarasandha chooses a more calculated approach. Rather than confronting its strongest warrior head-on, he begins looking for ways to weaken the kingdom from within.
With his attention turning towards Dhritarashtra, portrayed by Sandeep Mohan, Jarasandha is expected to rely on strategy, patience and carefully planned moves to advance his larger ambitions. His entry is set to create a fresh challenge for the young kingdom and its power structures.
Speaking about his character, Abhaas Mehta described Jarasandha as a fascinating personality whose ambitions extend far beyond winning battles.
“Jarasandha is a very interesting character because his ambition is not limited to winning wars. He is driven by ambition, power and strategy. He is a ruler who constantly thinks about the larger picture and how he can expand his influence,” Mehta said.
The actor explained that Jarasandha understands he cannot directly challenge Hastinapur while Bhishma Pitamah stands guard. Instead, he relies on his intelligence, patience and ability to identify opportunities.
“He is patient, strategic and always looking for an opportunity. Playing a character with such ambition and grandeur has been an extremely exciting experience for me,” Mehta added.
Jarasandha’s arrival promises to intensify the political and strategic conflicts in Hastinapur Ke Veer, as the powerful king begins plotting his next move against Hastinapur.
