“Those Who Play Will Win”: Message Echoes at Khelo India Dialogue

Bareilly: A grand “Khelo India Dialogue—Sports Talk with the PM” event was held yesterday at the MBA Auditorium of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University in Bareilly. The program was organized by My Bharat (MY Bharat), the Youth Programs Division, and the Ministry of Sports, Government of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed youth and athletes across the country through a virtual platform on this occasion.

The event was organized under the guidance of My Bharat’s Deputy Director Pushpa Singh. Professor Vinay chaired the program, while Ajay Raj Sharma served as moderator. The program began with the lighting of lamps before the idol of Goddess Saraswati.

PM’s Message on Sports

In his address, Prime Minister Modi stated that sports are not limited to winning medals; rather, they serve as a means to develop personality, discipline, confidence, and teamwork among youth. He declared: “Those who play will win.” Calling upon youth to participate more actively in sports, the PM emphasized that India’s young population can play a crucial role in taking the country to new heights in the sports arena.

Recalling Major Dhyan Chand, the great hockey player, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of National Sports Day and India’s glorious sporting heritage. He noted that sports teach individuals not just how to become champions, but also inspire them to become better competitors and progress with true sportsmanship.

Panel Discussion and Youth Dialogue

Following the Prime Minister’s address, an open discussion was held at the local level on sports infrastructure and India’s sports vision. International athlete and youth icon Vishwas Sharma shared his sports experiences with youth and encouraged them to continually advance in athletics.

Subsequently, Union Minister of State B.L. Verma, Bareilly Lok Sabha MP Chhatra Pal Gangwar, Mirganj MLA Dr. D.C. Verma, and youth icon Vishwas Sharma addressed the young audience.

Speakers’ Perspectives

Union Minister of State B.L. Verma stated that sports develop personality in youth while fostering discipline, leadership qualities, and a spirit of healthy competition. He urged youth to actively participate in sports and help take India to new heights in athletics.

Bareilly MP Chhatra Pal Gangwar said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, sports have gained new recognition and a wider platform in the country. Today, talented individuals from villages and small towns are getting opportunities to advance. He appealed to youth to engage actively in sports alongside education, discipline, and nation-building.

Mirganj MLA Dr. D.C. Verma emphasized that sports play a vital role in channeling youth energy in positive directions. Healthy and disciplined youth can lay the foundation for a strong society and a developed India.

Youth Engagement and Interaction

An important part of the program was youth dialogue and open interaction. Young people shared their thoughts and suggestions on sports, youth leadership, skill development, volunteering, and building a developed India.

My Bharat’s Deputy Director Pushpa Singh encouraged youth to register on the MY Bharat portal in greater numbers. She described MY Bharat as an effective platform for connecting youth to various activities, volunteer work, and nation-building. She added that greater youth participation can strengthen this campaign.

Key Discussion Topics

During the program, important topics were discussed including strengthening the sports ecosystem, preparing talent for the 2036 Olympics, youth leadership, developing India, and volunteering. Young participants shared their perspectives and suggestions on these subjects.

The event was attended by University Chief Proctor Prof. Ravindra Singh, international athlete and youth icon Vishwas Sharma, social worker Bhupendra Singh, volunteers from My Bharat and NSS, students, and a large number of youth. The program concluded with the national anthem.
