Lucknow: Lucknow Connection Worldwide (LCWW) celebrated Raksha Bandhan with children with intellectual disabilities by visiting the Chetna Institute in Aliganj, Lucknow, as part of its ongoing social service initiatives.
A team from LCWW’s Social Service Division visited the institute and spent quality time with the children. The delegation included Kailash Srivastava, Neerja Shukla, Vinod Srivastava, Sanjay Srivastava, Deepti Jaitley, P.C. Srivastava, Rachna Singh, Naveen Garg, Deepak Bhatia, Neeta Tekwani, Dr Dwarka Nath and Manju Bhatia.
During the visit, the team interacted with the children and reviewed the facilities and support services being provided to them. The members also assessed some of the basic requirements that could potentially be addressed through the social service division of LCWW.
The team appreciated the efforts being made by the Chetna Institute under the leadership of its secretary, Dinesh Pratap Singh, and its staff to support the development and well-being of children with intellectual disabilities.
The delegation particularly noted the institute’s vocational training programmes, which are helping children build confidence, develop skills and work towards greater self-development and independence.
The children at the institute are also actively participating in sports and have achieved notable performances, bringing recognition to Lucknow and the country, the visiting team noted.
As part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations, the LCWW team distributed biscuits, chocolates, chips and other refreshments among the children. The women members of the delegation also tied rakhis on the children, turning the occasion into a warm celebration of affection, inclusion and togetherness.
The Raksha Bandhan festivities brought smiles to the faces of both the children and the institute’s staff, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.
The visit highlighted the importance of inclusive community engagement and the role that social organisations can play in supporting institutions working for the empowerment and development of children with intellectual disabilities.
