Chitrakoot: Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya organized an anti-drug awareness rally to promote public awareness about substance abuse and encourage a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle. The rally was conducted under the aegis of the University’s Mental Health and Wellness Committee.
The rally commenced from the Department of Education in the Faculty of Arts after being flagged off by Dr. Shyam Singh Gaur. Students, faculty members and university staff enthusiastically participated, carrying placards and banners with messages highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction.
Participants raised slogans such as “Quit Drugs, Embrace Life,” “A Drug-Free Society is the Foundation of a Healthy Nation,” and “Drug-Free India, Empowered India,” urging people to stay away from substance abuse and adopt positive life choices.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Srivastava, the programme’s nodal officer, said drug addiction adversely affects an individual’s physical and mental health while also impacting families and society. He appealed to young people to stay away from addictive substances and focus on education, sports, yoga and positive values. He emphasized that active public participation is essential to building a healthy and drug-free society.
The rally concluded under the chairmanship of Prof. Nand Lal Mishra, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, with participants taking a pledge to lead a drug-free life and spread awareness against substance abuse in society.
