Transport Department Cracks Down on Safety Violations; Authorities Warn of Strict Action Against Non-Compliant School Vehicles
Gonda: In a major enforcement drive aimed at ensuring the safety of schoolchildren, the Transport Department, led by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Administration), conducted a special inspection campaign in the Khodare police station area of Gonda district. The operation resulted in the seizure of three school vehicles found violating transport regulations and safety norms.
The inspection was carried out jointly by officials of the Transport Department and enforcement teams as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen road safety and ensure compliance with legal requirements governing school transportation.
Multiple Violations Detected
During the drive, officials carried out detailed inspections of school vehicles and discovered several serious violations. Among the vehicles checked, authorities identified:
- Two school vehicles that were declared unfit for operation.
- One school vehicle operating with an expired permit.
- One school vehicle being operated without registration.
Vehicles found violating safety and regulatory standards were immediately subjected to legal action in accordance with transport laws.
Student Safety Top Priority
Officials conducted a comprehensive examination of vehicle fitness certificates, permits, registration documents, insurance papers, pollution certificates, and other mandatory records.
Authorities emphasized that the safety of students remains the highest priority and that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to transporting children. School managements have been reminded of their responsibility to ensure that only properly maintained vehicles with valid documentation are used for student transportation.
No Leniency for Rule Violators
The ARTO Administration made it clear that strict action will continue against school vehicles and institutions that fail to comply with transport regulations.
Officials warned that operating school vehicles without valid fitness certificates, permits, registration documents, or other mandatory approvals constitutes a violation of the law and will invite stringent enforcement measures.
They further stated that no relaxation or leniency would be granted in cases involving violations that could potentially endanger the safety of schoolchildren.
Schools Urged to Maintain Compliance
The Transport Department appealed to all educational institutions to ensure that vehicle-related documents remain updated and that prescribed safety standards are strictly followed.
School authorities, vehicle owners, and drivers have been advised to regularly verify the validity of permits, registrations, insurance coverage, pollution certificates, and fitness approvals to avoid legal action and ensure safe transportation services.

Transport officials said the special inspection drive will continue across the district in the coming weeks. The objective, they noted, is not merely enforcement but also the creation of a safe, reliable, and well-regulated transportation system for students.
