AIR Marks 90 Glorious Years; Special Anniversary Broadcast to Celebrate Historic Journey

New Delhi: India’s national public broadcaster, All India Radio (Akashvani), completed 90 years of service on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the country’s broadcasting history. To commemorate the occasion, a special programme titled “Bhor Se Pehle, Bhor Ke Baad” will be broadcast at 8:00 PM, reflecting on the rich legacy and enduring impact of radio in India.

The landmark programme will revisit memorable moments from Akashvani’s nine-decade journey, highlighting its role in informing, educating, and connecting generations of listeners across the nation.

The programme will feature a distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, former Director General of Akashvani and current Vice-Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication; veteran journalist and former media advisor to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prof. Ashok Tandon; and noted author and academic Prof. Vartika Nanda, who teaches at Lady Shri Ram College for Women.

Adding to the significance of the event, the programme’s host will also participate as an expert panelist, having been entrusted by Akashvani with the dual responsibility of moderating and contributing to the discussion.

The special broadcast will be aired on Akashvani’s Indraprastha Channel and will also be available on Air Live 24×7, enabling listeners across India and around the world to join in celebrating the remarkable 90-year journey of one of the nation’s most trusted media institutions.

The anniversary programme is expected to offer a nostalgic look at radio’s evolution while exploring its continuing relevance in the digital age, reaffirming Akashvani’s enduring place in India’s cultural and communication landscape.
