Vice-Chancellor Leads Tree Plantation Drive, Calls for Greater Environmental Responsibility
Bareilly: Marking World Environment Day, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, organized a tree plantation programme on its campus to promote environmental awareness and strengthen its commitment to sustainability.
The event was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh, who planted Rudraksha saplings along with faculty members, university officials, staff, and students. The initiative aimed to encourage environmental conservation and further enhance the university’s green and eco-friendly campus environment.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Singh emphasized that environmental protection has become one of humanity’s most pressing responsibilities in the face of growing ecological challenges.
“Protecting the environment is no longer a choice but a necessity. Trees play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring a safe and sustainable future for coming generations,” he said. He urged teachers, employees, and students to plant more trees and actively contribute to their care and preservation.
During the programme, participants were sensitized to key environmental issues, including water conservation, biodiversity preservation, and the reduction of plastic pollution. The event also served as a platform to spread awareness about sustainable living practices and the collective responsibility of safeguarding natural resources.
Those present took a pledge to actively participate in environmental protection efforts and support initiatives aimed at increasing green cover and promoting ecological sustainability.

The programme was attended by the university’s Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), Dean Academics, and several distinguished faculty members.
Among those present were Prof. S.K. Pandey, Prof. J.N. Maurya, Prof. Sanjay Mishra, Prof. Yatendra Kumar, Prof. Naveen Kumar, Dr. Ajay Yadav, Dr. Atul Katiyar, Dr. Saurabh Mishra, Dr. Ajit Singh, and Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, along with a large number of teachers, administrative officials, staff members, and students.
The event concluded with a collective resolve to transform environmental conservation and tree plantation into a mass movement. University authorities reaffirmed their commitment to organizing similar awareness and sustainability initiatives in the future to promote environmental stewardship among students and the wider community.
