Bhatkhande University Hosts Awareness Programme on Census and Self-Enumeration

Lucknow: An awareness and interaction programme on the upcoming Census process and the “Self Enumeration” facility was organised at the Jai Shankar Prasad Auditorium of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya on Monday.

The programme aimed to educate citizens, students and university staff about the Census process and encourage participation through digital self-enumeration.

Assistant Director of Census, Upasana Giri, addressed the gathering and explained the procedure for self-enumeration introduced by the Government of India for the convenience of citizens. She informed participants that people can submit their Census details online through the official portal.

According to her, citizens willing to complete self-enumeration can visit the official Census self-enumeration portal and fill in the required information digitally. After successfully completing the process, users receive a unique 11-digit identification number.

She further clarified that when Census officials visit households, citizens only need to share this 11-digit ID, allowing officials to instantly verify the information and save time during the enumeration process.

During the session, the benefits of self-enumeration were also highlighted. Speakers noted that the process is simple, efficient and time-saving, while accurate Census data plays a crucial role in planning development initiatives at the city, district, state and national levels.

Officials explained that reliable population data helps the government prepare better policies and schemes related to education, healthcare, housing, employment and public infrastructure.

Citizens were urged to actively participate in the Census and adopt the self-enumeration process to contribute towards national development and effective governance.

The event was attended by the university’s nodal Census officer Dr. Manjula Pant along with faculty members, staff and students of the university.

Participants appreciated the initiative and described the digital self-enumeration system as a practical and citizen-friendly step aimed at making the Census process easier and more accessible.
