Gonda: In a major drive to ensure road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the Transport Department in Gonda launched a special checking campaign on Monday against Bullet motorcycles fitted with modified silencers producing excessive noise. The action created panic among vehicle owners and riders across the district.
The campaign was conducted under the leadership of R.C. Bhartiya, during which vehicles were inspected at several locations across the district. Authorities specifically targeted motorcycles equipped with modified silencers that generate unusually loud sounds and contribute to noise pollution.
During the inspection drive, a total of 32 Bullet motorcycles were challaned for violating vehicle norms, while three motorcycles were seized after serious violations were detected.
Focus on Noise Pollution and Road Safety
Officials stated that modified silencers causing high noise levels have become a major nuisance for the public and significantly contribute to noise pollution. They also pointed out that such modifications violate prescribed road safety standards and motor vehicle regulations.

The department stressed that negligence towards traffic and vehicle safety norms would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Speaking during the campaign, R.C. Bhartiya said that similar enforcement drives would continue in the future against motorists violating vehicle standards. He appealed to vehicle owners to use only approved and standard-compliant equipment in their vehicles and strictly follow traffic regulations.
Strict Enforcement to Continue
The Transport Department reiterated that road safety is a collective responsibility and maintaining a safe traffic environment requires strict adherence to rules by all citizens. Officials indicated that special checking campaigns would continue across the district in the coming days, and strict action would be taken against violators.
