Clash Erupts Over Ambedkar Tribute in Lucknow Village; Seven Arrested

Lucknow: Tension briefly flared in the Banthra police station area of Lucknow following a dispute between two groups over garlanding a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Ambedkar Nagar village.

According to police officials, the incident occurred on April 14, coinciding with Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations, when members of two factions entered into an argument over the act of offering floral tributes to the statue. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical altercation between the groups.

Police confirmed that several individuals from both sides sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Initial reports also mentioned firing; however, authorities clarified that no one was injured by gunfire.

Based on complaints filed by both parties, a case has been registered at Banthra police station. Acting swiftly, police arrested seven accused individuals identified as Karan Gautam, Aman Kumar Gautam, Vipin Kumar, Pawan Gautam, Akash Rawat, Arvind, and Raj.

“All accused have been taken into custody and are being produced before the court,” officials stated, adding that the situation is now under control.

Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any further escalation, and police are continuing their investigation into the matter
