FIR Registered at Hazratganj Police Station Against Controversial Web Series ‘Ghoooskhor Pandat’

Lucknow: An FIR has been registered at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow against the controversial web series ‘Ghoooskhor Pandat’, which is being circulated on social media and an OTT platform. The action has been taken to maintain social harmony and to prevent the alleged hurting of religious and caste-based sentiments, police officials said.

According to the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, the case has been registered under the Central Zone jurisdiction at Hazratganj police station. Station House Officer Inspector Vikram Singh took cognizance of the matter after it came to notice that the web series was being streamed on the OTT platform Netflix.

Preliminary examination by the police revealed that the title of the web series appears to target and insult a particular community, which has led to resentment and social discomfort. Police officials stated that objections have been raised by members of the Brahmin community as well as several social organizations, with warnings of protests being issued.

Authorities expressed concern that such content could lead to social discord and disturb public peace and law and order. Given the sensitive nature of the issue, Hazratganj police registered an FIR against the director of the web series and other members of the concerned team under relevant sections of the law.

Police said further legal action is underway and the matter is currently under investigation.

The Lucknow Police Commissionerate reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards any content or activity that hurts the sentiments of any community or poses a threat to law and order, warning that strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
