Lucknow: As biting cold continues to grip the city, attendants of patients undergoing treatment at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) are facing severe hardship. Many families who travel from distant regions to seek medical care for their loved ones are compelled to stay for days or even weeks in and around the hospital. Despite the availability of night shelters, several attendants prefer to remain close to their patients’ wards, often spending nights in the open amid harsh winter conditions.
In a humanitarian gesture, Shrimati Ravi Cancer Seva Kendra provided much-needed relief by distributing hot tea and biscuits to patient attendants staying in the KGMU campus and around the Trauma Centre. The initiative brought warmth and comfort to those braving the cold while caring for their ailing family members.
The distribution drive was led by Amit Kumar, Convener of Ravi Cancer Seva Kendra, who personally reached out to people sleeping in the open, woke them gently, and offered cups of hot tea along with biscuit packets. The simple act of kindness was warmly appreciated by the attendants, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the service centre for its thoughtful support.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Kumar said that Shrimati Ravi Cancer Seva Kendra has been engaged in continuous social service for the past five years, focusing on the welfare of patient attendants at major hospitals including KGMU, Trauma Centre, Lohia Institute, and Civil Hospital. During the summer months, the organisation distributes free drinking water and other essential items, while in winter, it provides hot tea to help people cope with the cold.
The initiative once again highlighted the importance of compassion-driven community service, offering solace and dignity to those enduring difficult circumstances while supporting their loved ones in hospitals.
