SBI Lucknow LHO Hosts Quarterly Rajbhasha Meeting, Emphasises Hindi as a Unifying National Language

Lucknow— The Local Head Office of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Lucknow on Tuesday convened the quarterly meeting of the Rajbhasha Implementation Committee (RAKAS), reinforcing the bank’s commitment to promoting Hindi in official communication. The session was presided over by Chief General Manager of the Lucknow Circle, Dipak Kumar De.

Addressing the gathering, De highlighted Hindi’s deep cultural and social significance, describing it as a language that naturally connects diverse communities across India. “Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in our country, with over 60 crore speakers,” he said, noting that its popularity extends well beyond India’s borders. He emphasised that Hindi is not only simple and accessible but also the official language of the nation — and accordingly, the primary language of work for the SBI Lucknow Circle, which falls under the ‘A’ region category.

Senior officials including Rajiv Kumar, General Manager (Network–2), and Kaushlendra Kumar, General Manager (Network–3), were also present during the meeting.

As part of the proceedings, awards were presented to winners of various competitions held under the bank’s Hindi Fortnight 2025, as well as to departments that demonstrated outstanding performance in promoting Hindi during the quarter. The Circle Management Committee also released the latest edition of Vātāyan, the circle’s quarterly magazine showcasing literary and creative contributions from staff members.

Circle Development Officer Dhirendra Mahe expressed gratitude to the management for its continued encouragement of Hindi usage, while Assistant General Manager (Rajbhasha), Diwakar Mani, conducted the programme.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call to strengthen the use of Hindi across all official operations within the circle, reflecting SBI’s broader linguistic and administrative vision.
