Samman Samaroh and Bharatanatyam Performance Mark 65 Years of Yog Bhawan

Lucknow: Yog Bhawan has been working with dedication, passion and sincerity for the last 65 years (1960–2025) in the field of Yoga, Therapy Yoga and Meditation—even during times when yoga had not yet gained widespread popularity. The institution has tirelessly served people across Lucknow and beyond, contributing to physical, mental and spiritual well-being and uplifting individuals from sorrow. Sustaining uninterrupted service for more than six decades is a remarkable achievement for any organisation.

The newly renovated premises of Yog Bhawan were inaugurated in 2002 by Vishnu Kant Shastri, former Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

To commemorate the 65th year of Yog Bhawan, a Samman Samaroh was held on 29 November 2025.
Guru Ji Sudhir Sharma, who has been overseeing Yog Bhawan for the past 50 years, felicitated yoga teachers and support staff associated with the institution over the decades.

The ceremony was followed by a Bharatanatyam performance based on Lord Shiva by Kalashree Syed Shamshur Rehman and troupe.
Coordinator and Yoga–Meditation expert Saumil Sharma said, “Yoga is a legacy rooted in Guru-Shishya Parampara, the same way India remains the global guru of Yoga. Everyone must practise yoga daily to remain disease-free and stress-free and embrace a yogic lifestyle.”
Director Aruna Sharma added, “Yoga and Meditation are the need of the hour—more relevant today than ever due to rising stress, crime and violence.”

Yoga and meditation play a crucial role in curing diseases, reducing stress, managing anxiety and depression, and boosting immunity to handle season changes. Issues such as sinusitis, cold, cough, allergies, high blood pressure, low-immunity fever, depression, and increased arthritis-related pain often worsen with abrupt seasonal shifts, affecting overall health.

A daily practice of 25–30 minutes of yoga is sufficient to build physical strength, mental clarity and emotional balance—essential for meeting the challenges of modern life. With increasing dependency on outside food, poor water intake, insomnia, heightened desires and rising work pressure, people often neglect their health. Yoga, however, requires no equipment or expensive setup—only time, consistency and correct guidance from a capable guru.

Those felicitated by Sudhir Sharma included:
Shashi Srivastava, Arun Pandey, Ruma Mehta, J. P. Dubey, Nidhi Gupta, Kalpana Singh, Vijendra Singh, R. R. Tiwari, Chandraprabha Singh, Sher Singh, Neeti Gupta, R. K. Awasthi, Mukund Goswami, Usha Singh, Prakash Singh, Jyoti Ahuja, Pawan Singh, Mamta Jaiswal and Santosh Kumar.

Bharatanatyam performers included:
Anushka Prakash, Pankaj Pandey, Vrati Saxena, Arunima Singh, Diya Chandra, Prajna Srivastava, Radhika Sharma and Anant Sharma, choreographed by Kalashree Syed Shamshur Rehman.

Yog Bhawan emphasised that every individual in India should practise yoga and preserve its traditional and accurate knowledge—today and always.
