Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid rich tributes to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, during a solemn ceremony held on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow.
The Chief Minister offered floral wreaths at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial and saluted the supreme sacrifice of three Uttar Pradesh police personnel who lost their lives in encounters with criminals between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025. The fallen heroes were identified as Inspector Sunil Kumar of the STF, Head Constable Durgesh Kumar Singh of Jaunpur Police, and Constable Saurabh Kumar of Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate.
Adityanath met with the families of the martyred officers and assured them of the government’s continued support. “We have gathered today to pay our heartfelt respects to the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation. Their dedication to duty is exemplary. I extend my deepest condolences to their families and assure them that the government stands firmly with them—always has, and always will,” he said.
The Chief Minister praised the Uttar Pradesh Police for their unwavering dedication, courage, and discipline, calling their service a model for society. “The devotion and commitment of our police personnel set an ideal standard of duty. Their sacrifice will continue to shine as an eternal light in the soul of the nation,” he remarked.
Recalling the successful management of the recent Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Yogi Adityanath lauded the police and security forces for maintaining order and setting new benchmarks for safety and discipline. “The UP Police, in coordination with central and other security agencies, showcased extraordinary diligence and set high standards of law and order during the event,” he said.
Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna also addressed the gathering, highlighting the sacrifices made by the force over the past year. “Three police personnel have laid down their lives in the line of duty in the last one year. Their courage and commitment continue to inspire every member of the force. Our efforts, supported by the government, are showing positive results in maintaining law and order across the state,” he said, expressing condolences to the bereaved families.
Before the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to social media platform X to pay tribute to the martyrs. He posted, “On Police Commemoration Day, I offer humble tributes to all immortal police personnel who sacrificed everything in the line of duty. Their dedication and courage will forever inspire generations.”

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also remembered the bravehearts who died protecting the public. In his post on X, he wrote, “Heartfelt tributes to the courageous police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s security and public service. Their valor, dedication, and sacrifice are a source of inspiration for us all.”
Tuesday’s commemoration ceremony at the Reserve Police Lines was marked by solemnity and pride, as officers, dignitaries, and families of martyrs gathered to honor the fallen heroes. The police band played the Last Post, and a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the departed souls.
Yogi Adityanath’s tribute underscored his government’s commitment to strengthening the morale and welfare of the police force. “The state government is ensuring that every police family receives respect, support, and care. We are proud of the sacrifices made by our police personnel and remain dedicated to enhancing their working conditions and welfare schemes,” the Chief Minister affirmed.
The Police Commemoration Day ceremony, held annually on October 21, honors the memory of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. It stands as a solemn reminder of their valor, discipline, and selfless service to the nation.
With floral tributes, emotional moments, and reaffirmed commitments, the event in Lucknow once again highlighted the spirit of sacrifice and dedication that defines the Uttar Pradesh Police.
