Lucknow: Tensions escalated at the Convention Chowk in Wazirganj Police Station area after a tragic accident claimed the life of a scooty rider. The victim, a married woman, and her brother-in-law were reportedly struck by a dumper, resulting in her death.
Enraged by the incident, the family laid the body at Haiderganj Chowk in protest, demanding justice. The family alleged that during the confrontation with the police, there was a scuffle, which caused the body’s rope to break.
The protestors are demanding a compensation of ₹50 lakh and a government job as reparation for the tragedy. Heavy police forces have been deployed at the chowk to maintain law and order, and the area is witnessing severe traffic congestion due to the ongoing demonstration.
Authorities have appealed for calm as investigations into the accident continue.
