Teracotta workshop organised at Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya to spread India’s rich culture

Lucknow : With the aim of motivating the students about ancient history and arts ,a seven-day teracotta workshop was organised by Prachi Club of Ancient Indian History at Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya,Lucknow under the joint aegis of Folk Art Museum and Department of Culture, Uttar Pradesh.

On this occasion, Chief Guest Aftab Hussain, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, Lucknow Region, Special Guest Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh, Director, State Museum, Lucknow College, Prof. Manjula Upadhyay and Workshop Coordinator Prof. Sangeeta Shukla, Chairman Department of Ancient Indian History and Shri Krishna Om Singh, Head of Museum and Smt. Anupama Singh, Mrs. Chhaya, Vithika Sahayak, Lok Kala Sangrahalaya, Lucknow and other distinguished archaeologists of Archaeological Survey of India were present.

The programme began with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. All the guests were welcomed with bouquets, mementos and shawls.
On this occasion, Mr. Sanjay Prajapati, Mrs. Jyoti Prajapati and Mr. Aishwarya Prajapati were felicitated by presenting mementos, angavastras and saplings. The participants of the workshop were given certificates.
Workshop instructor Sanjay Prajapati said that at least on four festivals in a year all of the students should make clay idols so that may gradually attain maturity.

Principal Prof.Manjula Upadhyay said that when we talk about Swadeshi in the present times, such pottery workshops open new doors of possibilities for us . She asked all the students to practice continuously and perform excellently to learn about our nation’s rich culture.

The chief guest Mr. Aftab Hussain explained that the idol is made by man but it is made of the deity according to the criteria as per the scriptures. He discussed the types of utensils of ancient times and ways to identify their important chronology.
Guest of Honour Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh said that the spirit of Kala Satyam Shivam Sundaram is when we create something new, both our soul and body get a wonderful bliss.

At the end, AIH HOD, Prof. Sangeeta Shukla presented the report of the seven-day workshop. On this occasion, students performed songs and dances which entertained the audience.
On the occasion, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures was also put up by the students. It was appreciated by all. Prof Abha Pal proposed the vote of thanks and proposed that these kind of events should be held periodically to aware the youth about our India’s rich and diverse culture.
