Kathmandu: What began as a routine travel vlog has turned into a viral chronicle of political unrest. Harry, a British traveler and motorbike vlogger behind the YouTube channel WeHateTheCold, has unexpectedly become an internet sensation after capturing raw, unfiltered scenes from the Gen Z-led protests in Nepal.
Known for documenting motorcycle journeys rather than political upheavals, Harry stumbled into the protests after a sudden curfew left him stranded near Kathmandu’s parliament complex. With his camera rolling, he filmed dramatic clashes that have since been viewed millions of times across social media platforms.

His footage—showing burning vehicles, barricades being torn down, tear gas exploding overhead, and riot police retreating as young demonstrators pressed forward—has been described by international outlets as the work of an “accidental conflict reporter.”

Viewers have praised the authenticity of his street-level perspective, contrasting it with traditional news coverage. Harry himself admitted in a follow-up vlog that he had not planned to document the protests but felt “compelled to keep recording what was happening all around.”
The viral videos come amid a wave of youth-driven demonstrations in Nepal, where Gen Z activists have been demanding political reform and accountability. For many global audiences, Harry’s lens has offered a rare and visceral window into the movement’s intensity.
