Webinar Highlights Digital Rights Awareness on IEEE Women in Engineering Day

Lucknow: To mark IEEE Women in Engineering Day 2025, the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group, in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow, organized a thought-provoking webinar on Thursday focused on digital rights and cyber awareness.

The keynote speaker, Professor Neeta Awasthi, delivered an inspiring and insightful talk on the theme “Women as Bridges of Light: Leading the Way in Tech and Cybersecurity for a Safer Cyberspace.” Emphasizing the importance of digital awareness and safeguarding personal information, Prof. Awasthi highlighted how the digital world, while full of opportunities, also requires responsible and vigilant usage, especially by youth and women professionals.

She urged participants to be conscious of their digital rights and responsibilities, stating that informed digital engagement is key to security and empowerment in today’s interconnected society.

The event was part of a three-day celebration at IET Lucknow. Day one featured traditional cultural activities like rangoli and mehendi competitions, day two hosted a poetry recital, and the final day concluded with the guest lecture and an engaging discussion on digital safety.

Professor Neelam Srivastava, IEEE Branch Counselor, delivered the vote of thanks and summarized the highlights of the three-day event. She acknowledged the valuable insights shared by Prof. Awasthi and appreciated the enthusiastic participation.

The webinar saw the presence of around 60 participants, including students, faculty members, and professionals from across disciplines, all united in a commitment to safe and informed digital citizenship.
