Interactive ‘Happy Hours’ & Summer Workshop for Children Held at State Museum, Lucknow

Lucknow – The State Museum, Lucknow, under the aegis of the Department of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, hosted a vibrant and interactive event for children titled “Happy Hours – School of Joy”, aimed at nurturing creativity and artistic imagination in a joyful environment.

As part of this initiative, interactive two-hour sessions are being conducted every Saturday and Sunday, featuring activities such as drawing, painting, games, and coaster art, allowing children to express themselves freely through creative forms.

Continuing the initiative, a two-day clay pottery workshop was conducted, during which participants were taught to design various items on the potter’s wheel such as vases, lamps, incense stands, plates, and symbolic figures like Shivlingas. The event also included a special environmental gesture titled “A Tree for Mom”, where participants, along with museum staff, planted trees in honor of mothers under the leadership of Museum Director Dr. Srishti Dhawan.

Children also painted miniature pots, channeling their imagination with vibrant colors. Around 70 participants took part in the session coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi Khemka.

In parallel, at the Folk Art Museum, Lucknow, the summer mural workshop using papier-mâché concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony led by Dr. Srishti Dhawan. The participants, guided by lead instructor Jyoti Prajapati and assistant trainer Shefali Kapoor, created beautiful artworks. Dr. Krishna Om Singh, Curator of the museum, coordinated the workshop, which saw the participation of 33 individuals.

Additionally, under the “Happy Hours” initiative, nearly 50 children from various schools learned the traditional craft of making clay toys, enriching their cultural understanding and hands-on experience.

The event’s success was made possible through the efforts of staff members including Alshaj Fatmi (Assistant Director), Sharda Prasad, Mahavir Singh Chauhan, Pramod Kumar, Anupama Singh, Shashikala Rai, Gayatri Gupta, Rahul Saini, Tamagni Rai, Ayushi Kumari, Saurvendra Pratap Singh, Poonam Singh, Arun Kumar Mishra, Anurag Dwivedi, Parvez Khan, and Madan Lal.

The workshops reinforced the museum’s role in providing an engaging cultural and educational platform for young minds during the summer season.
