Lucknow: To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey (NSS), the National Statistical Office (NSO), Regional Office, State Capital, Lucknow, organized a slogan writing competition from April 18 to April 24, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various colleges and universities in the region. The competition was conducted online via Google Forms, and a total of 124 slogan entries were received.
The winning slogan, “Ganna hi gahna hai, aao isse rashtra sajayein, behtar kal ke khaatir, aao hum bhi aankde jutayein” (Statistics are our nation’s jewels; let’s gather data for a better tomorrow), was penned by Mr. Satyendra Kumar, an M.Sc. student from University of Lucknow, and was awarded the first prize.
The second prize was jointly awarded to Atar Singh of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and Master Apurv Singh, a Class 5 student from Sunbeam Public School, Gonda. The third prize was shared by Pragati Mishra of University of Lucknow and Sneha Devi of Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College, Fatehpur.
An award ceremony was held on April 30 at the NSO campus in Lucknow, where Dr. Suchita Gupta, Deputy Director General, felicitated the winners. In her address, Dr. Gupta highlighted the history and significance of the NSS and underlined the critical role of statistics in nation-building. She appreciated the young participants for their creativity and encouraged them to engage more deeply with the field of statistics.

Assistant Director Dimple Yadav also addressed the gathering, emphasizing that statistical data forms the backbone of national policies and planning, and that the youth must remain aware of its importance.
The event not only served as a platform to foster creativity and expression but also aimed to raise awareness about the role of statistics among students. Through such initiatives, the NSO hopes to inspire the next generation to appreciate and contribute to the country’s statistical systems.
