Special Session Organized by Lucknow Municipal Corporation on International Women’s Day, Honoring Women’s Contributions

Lucknow: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation organized a special session . The primary goal of this session was to recognize and honor the contributions of women in society and within the municipal corporation. The event was attended by the Mayor  Sushma Kharkwal, Municipal Commissioner  Indrajeet Singh, 40 female councilors from the district, female officers, female employees, sanitation workers, and media personnel. During the event, the Honorable Mayor honored several women social workers, female officers, and employees for their exceptional contributions.

Mayor Emphasized on Women’s Empowerment

Presiding over the special session, Mayor  Sushma Kharkwal stated that women today are participating in every field, and their role in the operations of the municipal corporation is immensely significant. She remarked that whether it is in the cleanliness system or administrative work, women are standing strong on every front, which is a matter of pride.

The Mayor emphasized that women’s empowerment is only possible when they are given equal opportunities in every field and are given a respectable place in society. She particularly expressed gratitude to the female employees, sanitation workers, and female councilors for their vital contributions to the cleanliness and development of Lucknow city.

Outstanding Women Honored on Women’s Day

During this special session, women who have made exceptional contributions in various sectors were honored. These women have made remarkable strides in their respective fields, bringing recognition to both the society and the municipal corporation.

The following women were honored by the municipal corporation:

– Rajeshwari Tripathi – Former Secretary of BJP Awadh Region and Social Worker
Recognized for her work advocating women’s rights, social services, and her dedication to society. Rajeshwari Tripathi has made significant contributions towards women’s empowerment.

– Anita Agarwal – Former Member of the Uttar Pradesh Child Commission and BJP Leader
Honored for her work in child rights and women’s welfare. As a member of the Child Commission, she fulfilled her responsibilities with great dedication and has been an inspiration for women.

– Muskaan (Entrepreneur)
Muskaan, a successful woman entrepreneur, was honored for establishing herself in the business world through her hard work and perseverance, becoming an inspiration to other women.

– Shilpa Kumari (Zonal Officer, Zone-2, Lucknow Municipal Corporation)
Shilpa Kumari, Zonal Officer of Zone-2, was honored for her outstanding contributions in managing cleanliness, waste management, and administrative work in her zone.

– Vijeta (SFI) and Meenakshi (Lucknow Cleanliness Campaign Supervisor)
Vijeta and Meenakshi were honored for their crucial roles in enhancing the cleanliness system and contributing to better rankings in Lucknow’s cleanliness campaign.

Sanitation Workers Honored

During the session, the sanitation workers (Safai Mitras) were specially honored. The Honorable Mayor emphasized that their work is the most important, and without them, it would not be possible to maintain a clean and beautiful city. The municipal corporation honored sanitation workers including Meera Kashyap, Sona, Manjuwara, Rasna Khatun, and Meenu for their dedication and hard work.

Role of Women Councilors Appreciated

The 40 women councilors present at the session also shared their thoughts on their participation in the municipal corporation’s activities and the challenges they face. They expressed their commitment to continue working for women’s rights and equal representation and to strive for the upliftment of women in society.

Call for Equal Opportunities and Respect for Women

The Mayor also stated that women are now playing a more active role through the municipal corporation, and their participation will accelerate the development and cleanliness efforts in Lucknow. She appealed to everyone to work together to create a society where women receive equal opportunities and respect. The special session organized by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation was a commendable initiative to honor and appreciate women’s contributions, with the goal of empowering and making women more self-reliant in society.

At the end of the program, Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kharkwal expressed gratitude to all the women, female councilors, officers, employees, sanitation workers, and journalists present. She assured that the Lucknow Municipal Corporation will continue working for the welfare of women and that more initiatives will be launched in the future to empower women.

“One Nation, One Election” Proposal Presented in the Session

During the special session, Honorable Mayor  Sushma Kharkwal also presented the proposal of “One Nation, One Election.” She explained that elections conducted at different times across the country affect the government machinery and administrative work. If elections are held simultaneously across the country, it will not only strengthen the administrative system but also accelerate the implementation of government policies.

The Mayor stated that the “One Nation, One Election” idea is a crucial initiative for the nation’s welfare. It will save time and resources and increase transparency in administrative work. This proposal received unanimous support from all the women councilors present, who agreed that it would provide the country with a new direction and strength. The councilors also stated that such a decision would speed up local administration and ensure faster benefits for citizens through various schemes.
