Dignitaries present at the event lauded the sanctity and grandeur of the Maha Kumbh, appreciating the meticulous cleanliness and extensive facilities provided for pilgrims and visitors.
Significant Investment in Infrastructure
Principal Secretary of Urban Development, Amrit Abhijat, highlighted the extensive preparations that began two years prior to the Maha Kumbh. “We anticipated around 400 million participants for this Maha Kumbh, and so far, 380 million people have already attended. Approximately 12.5 million people are taking holy dips daily,” he stated. The principal secretary emphasized the efforts made to ensure a seamless and enriching experience for all attendees.
“In the previous Kumbh, the government spent INR 2,315 crores on the event. For this Maha Kumbh, the central government has allocated INR 7,000 crores, while the Uttar Pradesh government has invested INR 7,400 crores, totaling INR 14,400 crores. Of this, 75% has been dedicated to infrastructure development, which will not only benefit the current Maha Kumbh but also serve the community in the future,” Abhijat added.
The infrastructure investments include the construction of 500 new roads and new railway stations. While 65,000 toilets were set up during the last Kumbh, this time the number has been increased to 100,000. Additionally, a workforce of 15,000 sanitation workers has been deployed to maintain cleanliness across the fairgrounds, working round-the-clock to ensure a hygienic environment.
