Lucknow: In a significant move to accelerate solar energy adoption and improve governance, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a dedicated monitoring portal for the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. The initiative is aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency, and real-time tracking of the scheme’s implementation across the state.
The portal, developed by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, was inaugurated by its Director Inderjeet Singh. It enables real-time monitoring of every stage—from application and approval to installation of rooftop solar units and final payment—providing both officials and beneficiaries with seamless access to progress updates.
Officials say the platform will significantly enhance accountability and speed up execution under the state’s digital governance framework. Beneficiaries will also be able to easily track their application status, reducing delays and improving user experience.
The model has drawn national attention, with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy appreciating Uttar Pradesh’s approach. The ministry has reportedly sought technical support from UPNEDA to replicate a similar system at the central level, further underlining the state’s leadership in renewable energy innovation.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable progress in solar energy deployment. More than 4.80 lakh rooftop solar installations have already been completed under the scheme, positioning the state among the frontrunners in clean energy adoption.
The government’s vision of “solar for every home” is expected to reduce electricity costs for citizens, promote environmental sustainability, and strengthen energy independence. The newly launched portal is seen as a crucial step toward achieving these long-term goals while reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s role as a key player in India’s green energy transition.
