Prayagraj: Before the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, the Indian Railways has completed the important work of making the journey between Prayagraj and Varanasi, two important centers of Sanatan culture, more faster and smooth. The work of doubling the railway track between the two cities is in the final stage. After the inspection of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on December 8, the Prime Minister will inaugurate this project during his visit.
The double engine government of the Center and the State does not want to leave any stone unturned in making Mahakumbh 2025 divine, grand, safe and smooth. About 40 crore devotees are expected to come to Prayagraj from every corner of the country in Mahakumbh 2025. In such a situation, the preparations of Indian Railways are also going on at war footing. In this direction, the Railways has completed the work of Varanasi-Prayagraj rail line doubling and Ganga Rail Bridge.
The inspection work of this project will be done by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on December 8. On December 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate this project along with the inspection and inauguration of the ongoing construction work for the Mahakumbh on his Prayagraj tour. With the doubling of the rail track between Prayagraj and Varanasi, trains will now be able to run at a speed of 100 to 130 km per hour on this route. A modern train like Vande Bharat will cover the distance between Prayagraj and Varanasi in one to one and a quarter hours.
The work of Ganga Rail Bridge and Prayagraj, Varanasi rail track doubling has been done by RVNL, an organization of Indian Railways. Talking about the project, RVNL GM Vinay Agarwal said that the proposal to build this bridge was put forward in 2003. But due to lack of political will and problems in land acquisition, its construction work remained stalled. But due to the efforts of the double engine government, the construction work of Ganga Bridge started in 2019 and the movement of trains will start from the bridge before Maha Kumbh.
Ganga Rail Bridge connects Daraganj of Prayagraj to Jhunsi, which will replace the old IJAT Bridge. Also in this sequence, the track has been doubled between the rail over bridge near CMP Degree College in Prayagraj and between Jhunsi to Rambagh and has been connected to this rail line. About 200 trains pass through this track every day. Now the speed of trains between Delhi-Kolkata, Prayagraj-Kolkata, Prayagraj Gorakhpur and Prayagraj-Patna will increase through this track.
