Governor says work of preservation of rare manuscripts satisfactory

Varanasi: Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel said that the work of preservation of rare manuscripts is satisfactory. There is a need to speed it up. Along with the preservation of the knowledge of India contained inside the manuscripts, they should be published and disseminated to the society.

She was inspecting the work of manuscript preservation along with rare manuscripts preserved in the Saraswati Bhawan Library of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. She instructed Vice Chancellor Prof. Bihari Lal Sharma to speed up the work of manuscript preservation.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharma said that the Chancellor took information about 96 thousand rare manuscripts of Saraswati Bhawan Library established in the university in 1896. He saw seven major manuscripts Srimad Bhagwatam, Ras Panchadhyayi- Sachitra, Bhagwat Geeta, Durgasaptashati, Yantrarajkalpah, Singhasan Battisi and Krishi Praddhati.

The Chancellor saw the activities of all three types of preventive, curative and creation of metadata of manuscript preservation work going on in the extension building of the university. Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing conservation work, he directed to speed up the work so that this authentic work is completed on time and its publication is also done on time.

During this, Registrar Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Ramkishore Tripathi, Prof. Rampujan Pandey, Prof. Jitendra Kumar, Librarian Prof. Rajnath, Vinayadhikari Prof. Dinesh Kumar Garg were present. Director of National Manuscript Mission Dr. Anirban Das welcomed him by giving a memento related to the manuscript.
