Lucknow: In a major push to strengthen technical education and improve employment opportunities for young people, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Technical Education and Adani Skills and Education. The partnership aims to align technical education with industry requirements and transform polytechnic institutions into industry-ready talent hubs.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel at his office in the Vidhan Sabha complex. The initiative is designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills and connect them directly with employment opportunities, while also promoting local hiring to reduce migration in search of jobs.
Under the collaboration, training programmes will be jointly developed to meet evolving industrial needs. Adani Skills and Education will work with the department and polytechnic institutions to design practical, skill-based curricula that, after departmental approval, will be integrated with academic credit systems. Students who successfully complete the programmes will receive jointly branded certificates from their institutions and Adani Skills.
The partnership will introduce a “Skill-to-Employment” model, enabling students to understand workforce requirements across different business units and apply for jobs immediately after completing their training. It also includes a “Train the Trainer” initiative to equip principals and faculty members with modern teaching methodologies, leadership skills, and industry-oriented training practices.
The agreement further provides for the establishment of modern laboratories and the supply of advanced equipment at selected institutions to enhance practical learning. Students will benefit from mentoring, project-based learning, workshops, on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and internship opportunities designed to bridge the gap between classroom education and industry expectations.
A key feature of the collaboration is the proposed Work-Study Diploma programme, under which students will gain hands-on industrial experience while continuing their academic studies. Participants will receive stipends or salaries during their training and earn a diploma upon successful completion of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Patel said the Yogi Adityanath government is committed to providing high-quality technical education and skill development that matches the needs of modern industries. He said stronger collaboration between educational institutions and industry would ensure that students transition smoothly from training to employment while supporting the state’s expanding industrial ecosystem.
The initiative will also include career guidance, resume-building support, interview preparation, placement assistance, job talks, recruitment sessions, and employment fairs to improve students’ career readiness.
Representatives of the Adani Group highlighted that Uttar Pradesh’s rapidly expanding sectors—including energy, construction, food processing, defence and aerospace, airports, roads, logistics, industrial parks, data centres, and cement—will require a large pool of technically skilled professionals. To meet this demand, the partnership will develop a comprehensive skills heat map to identify future workforce requirements and tailor training programmes accordingly.
The state government believes the collaboration will help create a sustainable pipeline of skilled manpower for industries while enabling young people to secure quality employment closer to their hometowns.
