Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Forest and Wildlife Protection Month commenced, marked by a press briefing at the Forest Headquarters’ Parijat Hall, led by Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of Forest, Environment, Zoo, and Climate Change (Independent Charge).
Under CM’s October–January directives and the Minister’s leadership, “Save the Trees” campaigns were launched to safeguard saplings planted during the 2024 monsoon.
Enforcement operations will run across all divisions in three shifts daily, with zonal officers monitoring action. Teams will conduct combing in reserve forests, check unauthorized entries, prevent illegal logging and sawmill operations, and enforce forest and wildlife laws. Seized timber will be auctioned swiftly to avoid depreciation.
Efforts include swift forest fire response, awareness drives on forest laws, and extensive surveillance with the help of satellite alerts and local community support. A strategic plan for 2025 forest fire prevention is already in action, with 115 control cells and trained personnel statewide.
