Two Notorious Criminals Arrested for Extortion impersonating Crime Branch Team

– Arrest made near Charbagh Metro Station

Lucknow: The Central Zone police of Lucknow Commissionerate have arrested two criminals who formed a fake Crime Branch team and engaged in extortion. The police recovered counterfeit police ID cards and a motorcycle used in the crime.

The Naka police arrested the two wanted accused under case number 28/2025, section 308(2) IPC, on February 19, 2025, at around 10:00 PM from the stairs near Charbagh Metro Station.

Incident Details:
Complainant Afzar Hussain, son of Samiullah, a resident of Bareilly, lodged a complaint at Naka police station, stating that two unidentified individuals posed as Crime Branch members and attempted to extort Rs. 30,000 from him by showing a fake police ID card in the Charbagh area.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Naka police initiated an investigation and arrested the accused. Further inquiries revealed that both individuals have prior criminal records.

Criminal Background of the Accused:

  1. Arjun Kumar – Against him, a case is registered under case number 36/20, sections 323/504/506 IPC at Hussain Ganj police station.
  2. Mohammad Siraj alias Raj – Against him, a case is registered under case number 26/15, sections 392/411 IPC at Hussain Ganj police station.

The police have confiscated the fake police ID card and the motorcycle used in the crime. Further legal proceedings and investigations are underway.

Place of Arrest:

  • On February 19, 2025, the accused were apprehended near the stairs leading to the Metro Station, and the fake police ID card was recovered.

Accused Details:

  1. Arjun Kumar, son of Gyan Chandra Rawat, resident of 14/220, Purana Barfkhana, Udayganj, Hussain Ganj, Lucknow, aged approximately 32 years.
  2. Mohammad Siraj alias Raj, son of Mohammad Rais, resident of 58/195, Sher Wali Kothi, Hussain Ganj, Lucknow, aged approximately 43 years.

Recovered Items:

  • Counterfeit police ID card
  • One motorcycle used in the crime
