The IPL Royals from Rajasthan crumble against DC

New Delhi: In the 56th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 20 runs. In this high scoring match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, batting first, set a target of 222 for Rajasthan, in response to which RR could score only 201 runs after losing 8 wickets. Captain Sanju Samson played a stormy inning of 86 runs. Sanju faced 46 balls and hit 8 fours and 6 sixes.

With this, DC has also settled the account of the defeat against RR in the current season. In the last match, Rajasthan had defeated Delhi by 12 runs. This is Rajasthan’s third defeat. With this win, Delhi remains in the race for the playoffs. DC has 12 points after their sixth win in 12 matches. Whereas Rajasthan has 16 points from 11 matches.

Rajasthan had a bad start while chasing the target. Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) lost his wicket in the very first over. After this, Jos Buttler (19) and Sanju Samson added 63 runs for the second wicket. Whereas Riyan Parag (27) could not play a big innings. However, Samson made a partnership of 59 runs with Shubham Dubey (25) for the fourth wicket.

Samson became the victim of Mukesh Kumar in the 16th over. He gave a catch to Shai Hope on the boundary, which was quite controversial. DC became dominant as soon as Samson was out. Rajasthan needed 29 runs in the last over. But Delhi could score only 9 runs. Khalil Ahmed, Kuldeep and Mukesh took 2-2 wickets for Delhi. While Rasikh Salam and others got one wicket each.

Earlier, DC added 221 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Abhishek Porel (65) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (50) scored half-centuries. For Rajasthan, R Ashwin took three wickets while Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal and Sandeep Sharma took one wicket each.
