Lucknow: To ensure that citizens do not face problems due to extreme heat wave in the state, the state government has directed the officials of the Electricity Department to maintain uninterrupted power supply and resolve local problems as soon as possible in case of power disruption.
Currently the heat is at its peak. The temperature is constantly crossing 45 degrees centigrade in almost all the districts across the state. There is no significant drop in temperature even in the evening and at night. The havoc of scorching heat is constantly challenging the capacity of the power system and generating units of the state.
If we look at the data, the highest electricity demand of 29058 MW was supplied by the Power Corporation on May 26, 2024 in the state, which was about 29% and 35% more than the maximum daily demand of 22572 and 21502 MW respectively of May 26, 2022 and 23 of last years.
Similarly, the maximum demand supplied by the Power Corporation on 27 May and 28 May 2024 this year was 29167 MW and 29212 MW respectively, which is 35% and 40% more than last year 2022 and 2023 respectively.
