State-Level Senior Judo Championship Kicks Off in Lucknow with Enthusiastic Participation

Lucknow: Lucknow is currently hosting the State-Level Senior Men’s and Women’s Judo Championship, which is being held from March 21 to March 23, 2025. The tournament, organized under the directives of the Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate (Letter No. 5360/Vibha-Prati/2024-25 dated March 10, 2025), has brought together 288 athletes from 18 divisions across the state, making it one of the biggest judo competitions in the region.

The event commenced with great enthusiasm, with  Prakash D., IPS, Additional Director General (Railways), gracing the occasion as the chief guest. Before the tournament began, he interacted with the players and formally inaugurated the championship by initiating the first bout. Several distinguished personalities, including Sudhir Halwaria,  Anoop Gupta (Chairman, Auraiya Municipality),  Ajay Prakash Mishra,  Nitish Dixit,  Ravi Kant, Kripashankar,  Prakash Chandra,  Rajendra Sharma,  Sanjay Gupta, and  Jaya Sahu, were present at the event, adding prestige to the occasion.

At the conclusion of the day’s matches,  Animesh Saxena, Regional Sports Officer, Lucknow, extended his gratitude to the chief guest and all attendees for their presence and support in making the event successful.

Results of the Day’s Competition:

In the women’s -55 kg category, Aakriti from Moradabad secured the first position, followed by Kajal from Meerut in second place. Sejal from Gorakhpur and Milan from Kanpur shared the third spot.

For the men’s -55 kg category, Kamlesh from Varanasi emerged victorious, with Sadan Ahmed from Ayodhya finishing as the runner-up. The third position was shared by Pradeep from Prayagraj and Abhay from Saharanpur.
