Arshdeep Singh Breaks Into Top Three Among T20I Fast-Bowling Wicket-Takers

New Delhi: India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has moved into third place among the leading fast bowlers by wickets in men’s T20 International cricket, overtaking Bahrain’s Rizwan Butt following his dismissal of New Zealand opener Tim Seifert in Wellington.

According to the figures in the match report, Arshdeep reached 149 wickets in 102 T20I appearances, moving one ahead of Rizwan, who has claimed 148 wickets in 97 matches. The milestone further strengthens Arshdeep’s position as India’s leading wicket-taker in the format.

Arshdeep took one wicket for 33 runs in his four overs during the third T20I against New Zealand. His breakthrough came in the second over when Seifert was caught by Axar Patel for two runs.

Southee and Mustafizur Lead the Pace-Bowling Chart

Former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee tops the pace-bowling list with 164 T20I wickets from 126 matches. Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman follows closely with 163 wickets in 130 appearances.

Arshdeep occupies third place with 149 wickets, ahead of Rizwan Butt on 148 and Ireland’s Mark Adair, who has taken 142 wickets.

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan leads the overall men’s T20I wicket-takers’ chart with 197 wickets in 118 matches, according to the supplied figures. The overall rankings include both fast bowlers and spinners, making them different from the specialist pace-bowling standings.

Arshdeep’s record highlights his growing importance to India’s T20I bowling attack. His left-arm angle and variations offer the team a wicket-taking option across different stages of an innings. Jasprit Bumrah is next among India’s leading T20I wicket-takers, with 126 wickets from 100 matches, according to the report.

New Zealand Post 198 for Three

The milestone came in a high-scoring Wellington encounter in which New Zealand posted 198 for three after India elected to bowl.

Daryl Mitchell led the home side’s innings with an unbeaten 89 off 52 deliveries, hitting five fours and five sixes. Bevon Jacobs remained not out on 39 from 23 balls, striking four boundaries and one six. The pair added an unbeaten 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket to give New Zealand a strong finish.

Earlier, Finn Allen scored 40 off 25 balls, while Glenn Phillips contributed 17 from 14 deliveries. Arshdeep, Axar Patel and Nitish Kumar each picked up a wicket for India.

A Major Achievement for India’s Pacer

Arshdeep’s rise to third place among T20I fast-bowling wicket-takers marks another milestone in his international career. With the gap to the two leading bowlers still within reach, his position could improve further as he continues to represent India.

His latest achievement also underlines the value of his role in the shortest format, where controlling runs and taking wickets at crucial moments can shape a match. The dismissal of Seifert may have been Arshdeep’s only wicket in Wellington, but it was enough to move him ahead of Rizwan Butt in the rankings.
