SP’s dilemma on ticket distribution continues

Meerut: The leadership of Samajwadi Party is in a dilemma regarding the ticket from Meerut-Hapur Lok Sabha constituency. Till now the ticket has been changed twice. Now once again the heartbeats of SP leaders have increased due to the ongoing speculation regarding the ticket. Since Thursday is the last day for filing nominations, the final decision about the candidate has to be taken by Wednesday night. For this, all the claimants are camping in Lucknow.

Camped near the party high command

Samajwadi Party is not able to decide its candidate for Meerut-Hapur seat. On March 15, SP had made Bhanupratap Singh of Dalit community its candidate. Bhanupratap Singh, originally from Bulandshahr, lives in Rajendra Nagar of Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad. As soon as Bhanu Pratap, who comes from Dalit class, was made the candidate, there was a ruckus in SP and all the ticket claimants camped near the party high command. Bhanu Pratap was opposed saying that he was an outsider candidate, running his own political party and had no political affiliation in Meerut.

Crisis may increase due to confusion

Those seeking tickets from Meerut include city MLA Rafiq Ansari, Sardhana MLA Atul Pradhan, Kithore MLA Shahid Manzoor, former Hastinapur MLA Yogesh Verma, SP District President Vipin Chaudhary, Neeraj Pal etc. After the ticket was announced, Bhanu Pratap came to Meerut. After the nomination process started, nomination forms were also taken in his name. On Monday, city MLA Rafiq Ansari had also purchased the nomination form.

On Tuesday, former MLA Yogesh Verma bought the nomination form in the name of his wife, former mayor Sunita Verma. Along with this, Akil Murtaza from SP also bought the nomination form. On Monday night, SP canceled the ticket of Bhanu Pratap Singh and declared Sardhana MLA Atul Pradhan as its candidate.

Now the message of Atul Pradhan’s ticket being held in SP is going viral, while all the ticket contenders are also staying in Lucknow. Former candidate Bhanupratap Singh and former MLA Yogesh Verma are also talking about change in candidature, claiming to be on ticket hold. A faction of SP is talking about cutting off tickets from Dalits and giving them to Dalit candidates only, while some are advocating fielding Muslim candidates. In such a situation, the state of confusion of the party high command has increased the heartbeats of the party leaders. It is being told that the final decision regarding the ticket will be taken by Wednesday night.
